Completed my undergraduate studies at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) and then, I went on to become a physician. I completed my medical studies at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine (Vallejo, CA). I veered off course one sleepless night while browsing Craigslist when I happened on an ad that said “Medical Marijuana Physician Needed.” That ad definitely caught my attention! Knowing from first-hand experience that marijuana worked like a charm in resolving insomnia, I started digging deep in the research behind it. Though the research was limited, it certainly showed promise, especially for conditions such as: Chronic Pain, Nausea and Vomiting & Poor Appetite.
A year later, I packed my bags and headed back across the country. Words cannot describe the shadiness of the medical marijuana clinic at which I arrived. At one point I thought to myself…What have I gotten myself into?!?! But, at that point there was no turning back. And, I’m glad I didn’t either because what I saw blew my mind.
Patients came off of highly-addictive daily pharmaceutical drugs for chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia. Instead, they were using marijuana only on an as needed basis.
Patients with epilepsy, who weren’t able to function because of the highly sedative effects of pharmaceutical drugs, now had a sense of normalcy in their lives.
Patients with Parkinson’s experienced fewer tremors
Patients with Multiple Sclerosis experienced less spasticity.
The anecdotes are countless. After about a year and half of working at these mills, which were just churning out medical marijuana cards for patients, I decided to start my own practice in Walnut Creek, CA, so that I could perform my work with a greater level of integrity.
